Do I need a photo to use AI Garden Design?
The short answer
For most tools, yes, but the Dream tool works from a text description with no photo required. Transform, Furnish, Replace, Remove, and Style Reference all start from a photo. Dream lets you describe a garden in words and generates one from scratch.
AI Garden Design has six tools and only one of them is photo-free. Transform redesigns your garden in a new style; Furnish fills an empty backyard with plants and furniture; Replace swaps a specific object; Remove erases something unwanted; Style Reference applies the look from one photo to another. All five start from a photo.
The Dream tool is the exception. You describe the garden you want, size, style, features, mood, and the AI generates a photorealistic design from scratch. It is useful for early-stage planning before you have a property, for clients who want to see an inspiration board, or for sharing ideas during the search for a home with the right outdoor space.
When you do have a photo, take it in daylight, from eye level, and from the angle you want redesigned. Phone-camera quality is plenty, high resolution does not improve results materially. The cleanest result comes from a photo with the house, fence, or other structural boundary visible so the AI has a clear reference for what to preserve.
