Drop a photo of your outdoor space

How the plant finder works

Upload a photo of any outdoor space. The AI reads the sun exposure, the kind of space, its scale, and any soil or climate cues it can see, then recommends six to eight plants that genuinely fit. Each plant comes with its botanical name, the role it plays in the design, why it suits your space, and a quick care tip.

Add your hardiness zone or location and every pick gets tailored to your climate. Skip it and the AI recommends plants that work across mild temperate climates. Either way you get a tight, repeatable palette rather than a random list, which is what separates a designed garden from a busy one.

The tool is completely free, three lists per visitor per day, no signup. Your photo and plant list are saved on a shareable link you can send to a partner, landscaper, or nursery.

Common questions

Is the AI plant finder really free?

Yes, fully free. No signup, no credit card, no email. Each visitor can run three plant lists per day, enough to plan a few beds or compare ideas for different parts of the yard.

How does it know which plants to recommend?

The AI reads your photo for sun exposure, the type of space, scale, and any soil or climate cues it can see, then recommends a tight, repeatable palette that fits those conditions. If you add your hardiness zone, it tailors every pick to your climate.

Do I need to know my hardiness zone?

No. The zone field is optional. Without it, the AI recommends plants that work across mild temperate climates. With it, the picks get sharper and climate-specific. You can enter a USDA zone like 7b, a region, or just your city.

What happens to my photo after I upload it?

It is stored privately on our CDN so we can render the result page. It is never used to train models, never sold, and never shared. Email us anytime if you want it deleted.

How accurate are the plant suggestions?

The AI applies trained horticultural principles to what it can actually see in the photo. It does not run a soil test or know your exact microclimate, so treat the list as a strong starting point and confirm with your local nursery before buying.

Will it work for small yards, balconies, or containers?

Yes. The AI reads any outdoor space, including balconies, courtyards, rental patios, and tiny side yards, and leans toward container-friendly, low-commitment picks when the space calls for it.

How should I take the photo for the best results?

Shoot from one corner with as much of the space in frame as possible. Daylight gives the most accurate read on sun exposure and existing planting. Cloudy days work fine.

Can I see the garden redesigned after I get the plant list?

Yes. Each result links to our AI redesign tool, which generates a photorealistic version of your space in any style. First you learn what to plant, then you see the finished look.

Can I share the plant list with my partner or landscaper?

Yes. Every result lives at a permanent URL you can text, email, or share anywhere. It works without an account.

How long does it take?

About 20 to 40 seconds from upload to result. Most of that is the AI reading the image and writing the recommendations.
